Front Street: New York’s Hidden Gem
If you think you’ve been to all of New York’s coolest towns and hottest destinations, you haven’t been to all of them unless you’ve visited Front Street on the Hudson River, in Newburgh, NY. With it’s breathtaking river views, fabulous restaurants and a variety of bars and clubs, Front Street is a great spot to get away and see some new faces.
Located about one hour north of Westchester, across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge you find a little strip that packs a punch. Many restaurants, with windows spanning from floor to ceiling, provide panoramic views of the Hudson River and represent the largest group of transient docking available on the Hudson River. Also there are restaurants serviced by Front Street Marina. Transit docking is also available nightly. There is 30-amp service and water hookup available.
While you’re there be sure to check out Torches Restaurant. They offer an eclectic american menu with great seafood selection. Making reservations is highly recommended during the busy summer season. We recommend going to a late dinner on a Saturday night and staying after for the transformation. Torches turns into one of the best nightclubs on the strip.
After 10pm Torches transforms into an adult playground on the Hudson. The crowd gets younger as the dinner crowd leaves and the party begins. Hang inside by the bar and the 6,000 gallon fish tank that makes the room glow. Or head outside on the large deck and enjoy the cool breeze by the Hudson. Torches typically plays House, Hip-Hop and mashups and is an overall excellent summer hotspot. Once the club gets going its hard to tell whether you’re at Neptunes or in South Beach.
